PS: By the way...the ancient marketing technique referred to above is nothing more than REPACKAGING.  It's a technique that has been proven to work year after year--even as far back as the 1920s--for just about every type of product, but especially effective with info-products.

The trick is to REPACKAGE an existing product in such a way as to make it seem fresh and somewhat unique. That's what the Pro's do. That's what Boardroom Reports have been doing for eons. It works.

In some cases, the repackaging involves a slight improvement, or a different format. But not always. For information products, it's mostly just a matter of updating or REHASHING existing information, or bundling it with other information to form a new package.

But why would the professionals do such a thing?

Because it works. And besides, there's only so much unique how-to information out there. Eventually it all has to be rehashed, repackaged, or re-bundled into a new product or different format. Think about all the Private Label product offers that have been going around for years. Think that's not repackaging? Of course it is. And yes...it still works.
